Here are the  results of the Patriot’s Pen essay contest sponsored by the local VFW District 15 of Scotland-Windthorst Post 2676.

They will attend an  Awards Reception to be held Monday, December 14 in Windthorst.

This competition is designed to give students an opportunity to write a 300 to 400 word essay expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme.  The theme for the 2020-21 competition is “What is Patriotism to Me?” Students begin by competing at the local Post 2676 level where they can earn scholarship money in the amounts of $150 for 1^st Place, $75 for 2d and $50 for 3^rd.  Post winners advance to District competition with District winners advancing to the state competition.  State winners then compete for the national prizes. National winners will receive at least $500.  The first-place national award is currently $5000.
